Can CBD Prevent Viral Infections?

CBD is helpful in the prevention and the treatment of some viruses including covid and hepatitis C, but there are others that aren’t actually affected. There have been some in vitro studies and some controlled environments that suggest that this may be helpful for some viruses, but not for every single one of them out there.

The Effectiveness in Studies

Right now, studies show that the extracts of this, including CBD and the like, improve the natural response that’s there to treat along with the prevention of some viral infections. With the pandemic still being a big thing, there are studies that look at how effective the current medications are against the treatment of the COVID-19 virus.

CBD actually came out as a possible treatment for COVID due to the way it treats the symptoms, one of them being infection. It also lessens the symptoms of this, and it also prevents the replication of the virus within the lung cells of humans. Before this sudden surge of this information on it, there was some research already that was showing that CBD may be a good antiviral. It can help against hepatitis C, but not against hepatitis B viruses.

It also found that it may help with Kaposi’s sarcoma associated herpes viruses and it was also seen that it could actually trigger cell apoptosis as well.

How this works

While cannabis is something that’s been used for a long time as a specific kind of medicine, this is something that's only recently gained traction.

The different effects of this tend to be twofold.

The first thing that it does is it helps with the inflammatory responses, so it prevents the autoimmune damage that’s out there. it then works directly with your immune system in order to replicate and prevent the way that the virus is spread.

For COVID, it actually is something that does infect the host cells and replicate.

It actually is used to stop the replication process of the covid virus.

In order for something to infect your cells, the virus needs to enter, and the SARSA-CO-V-2 was discovered when it binds directly to your ACE2 receptors, which is a protein that's found outside of the cells where humans are, and then the RNA gets in there to make the viral copies.

CBD and the metabolites of this actually prevent the RNA from getting into the host cells, and also prevents the genes from also being expressed as well. It also prevents the host cell from copying, but also it can destroy the RNA, and then, remove the entire infection.

For hepatitis C, this can lead to major damages, and usually, liver fibrosis is one of the big implications of this.

CBD can help directly with this. Since liver fibrosis occurs when the immune system attacks these healthy cells, this can actually prevent this damage from happening, destroying the tissue that’s there, and preventing the extracellular proteins from building up that would cause liver failure.

Right now, we don’t really know how deep this can get. It can, however, help with reducing the way that the hepatitis C cells do spread within the liver.

Right now, the treatment is still in the in vitro stages, and it has yet to hit the clinical trials, the non-toxicity of the CBD and the oil itself also hints at this working as a form of antiviral treatment.

Some people have found that it works to put this on different sores, and also can work with chicken pox and cold sores, in order to spread the healing.

Cannabis for ADHD

If you’re interested in getting cannabis for ADHD, you’re not alone. If you struggle with this condition, cannabis may not be the first thing that you think of, but there are different strains that can help. Some people have ADHD that results in hyperfocus. Instead of not having issues with recognition, or even remembering various things, a person is almost hypervigilant in the environment that they have, resulting in higher sensitivity. The sights, the sounds, the tastes, and the smells all get noticed, all at the exact instance.

For those who are struggling with ADHD, they may have symptoms that are disruptive, causing behaviors that arne’t fully understood, or even accepted. There are some prescriptions to help with this, but some haven’t enjoyed using those for their problems.

How cannabis can help

For some people who have ADHD in the form of anxiety disorders and fidgeting, cannabis can help calm them down, and anxiety is considered a condition that’s legally qualified for cannabis. Some also may say that it works for their symptoms.

There are various types of cannabis strains, in fact, over 700 different ones, and some can be a bit more sedative, which is good for those who have a lot of head chattering, especially when trying to focus, or even trying to sleep.

Other ones can boost the mood, which is good for those who feel depressed when they have ADHD symptoms crop up.

There are different strains that can benefit you, and they definitely can be good for many.

Strains for Anxiety Relief

Some people who have ADHD struggle with energy spikes and anxiety as well. As there is usually a lot that’s going on, it can sometimes be a lot, and some people struggle to stop moving when they have this condition.

Some people feel like they need to calm down a little bit, and settle into smaller, more calmer states of energy, and sometimes, you don't want to feel like sedated, but more focused and calm.

The best strains to help for that include:

  • Super lemon haze

  • Sour breath

  • Strawberry cough

  • Harlequin GDP

  • Reg Congolese

  • Some lucid blue

Some of these are sativa based though, so if you have a lot of creativity and bursts of energy, it can be a bit much for you. If you're struggling to find relief for this, you should be mindful. A little goes a long way with these kinds of strains.

Indica for ADHD

Some people feel better when they take indica strains, as they are better for quelling the mind and body, and usually, those that are dominant in indica can be a better option.

If you’re someone with a laundry list of things to do, you should avoid indica for sedation too, since that’ll just make you feel couch locked.

You may, however, want to consider this, especially if you’ve got some racing thoughts.

The best ones for that job do include:

  • Sour diesel

  • Harlequin

  • Harle-Tsu

  • Blackjack

  • Star Master Kush

  • Fire Alien Strawberry

Some of these may be important to look at, as you might find one that’s good for moderating symptoms.

You should also consider using a CBD strain for ADHD, as they can calm the body down, and they usually are good for making sure that you have a calming experience, but also aren’t feeling super jittery.

A strain that’s full spectrum is the best, or you might want to pick one that’s pure CBD, because that might be the better option to help with treating your ADHD symptoms, and improving this as well.

Can Cannabis Make You angry?

For some people, marijuana makes them nice and soothed, but in other cases, it may do the opposite. There are certain interactions that arne’t totally known, but you might wonder if there is a risk for anger. If you have a lot of cannabis, or are trying to withdraw, you might experience some effects, and some high-THC strains do cause anxiety and paranoia in a lot of cases.

Marijuana and Mood

Marijuana has a lot of THC, which works directly with the ECS, that plays into the mood that you have and how it’s regulated. The receptors do respond better to certain cannabinoids, with the CB1 receptors helping with mood and anxiety. CB1 is usually found within your brain locations and helps with the emotions that are there. THC is a sort of agonist to this, and it can activate it.

It can improve your mood and impact the motor control and some of the other changes that are there. Remember though, that the effects of this do vary from each person to the next.  Sometimes, people feel high when the neurotransmitters with weed get stimulated. It can cause a dopamine rush and release. But the problem is, if you take too much, it can overload this, thereby creating the opposite kind of effect.

The mental Health Effects

There are some feelings of euphoria that happen when you smoke, improving the senses, but it also can cause you to take more risks and impair the way that your motor skills work, depending on the tolerance level. Some people argue that marijuana can help with creativity, but if you take too much, the opposite happens.

There was creativity that was looked at with the low and high potency. Those who had higher levels had a lessened performance, so it can affect the way that we’re creative in much larger dosages, but we need more research to make this the case.

Sometimes, those with anxiety do struggle with this.  Some also may struggle with higher anxiety especially if they take too much cannabis. It was found that those that had a bit of anxiety were over three times more likely to have a psychotic disorder, compared to those that never used cannabis period, so poor mental health may be a bad and detrimental effect of this, but we do need more research on this.

So does it automatically Make you Angry?

It ultimately depends on your own personal usage. Some people may have their mood swayed a bit too hard by marijuana. Usually, cannabis creates euphoria, but it can cause paranoia, anxiety, and other panic disorders at higher levels. We also need to look at more research to see how it plays into psychosis, and also irritability as well. With psychosis, it was found that if you smoked a lot more marijuana, especially those that are very potent, it was found that you’re more likely to develop a form of psychosis compared to those that didn’t smoke.

The genetic variability, the age they started using, and the potency all played an effect.  It also was found that there was a predisposition if you used cannabis too much, too early.  Some people also use cannabis in a way that’s a bit excessive. While it can help with certain conditions, too much of a good thing can be bad for you, as in the case of this. Overall, it’s important to look at how marijuana makes you feel, and always start at lower doses before you consume too much, as it can play a big part in your own mental health issues, and anger too.

All about Purple Weed

Have you ever seen purple weed? It looks like purple grape colors, and it seems weird. You may wonder if it’s safer, or even better than the cannabis strains that are the normal deep green. Let’s find out what’s so special about this weed here in this article.

What it is

This is basically a cannabis bud that has a lot of anthocyanins in it, which is what makes this responsible for the purple color. It’s usually more wine-colored in the indica strains, as the buds usually grow with that coloration, and it’s usually got a profile that’s relaxing, and sleepy. But the community has a ton of purple colors and strains that are there, and you can even ask your budtender about this.

The purple strains will usually look some variety of purple, others looking more plum or mauve, and usually, this is something that's purely based on the genetic profile. If you’re looking to figure out grape stains, you’re not alone.  Next, we’ll talk about some of the best purple weed strains out there to try!

Grandaddy Purple is King

The best one of these purple strains, is of course, grandaddy purple, which is a blend of big bud, purple Urkle, and also it offers a very good taste, and a unique profile. It’s indica dominant, and it’s a strain that was introduced back in the early 2000s, with the constant appeal that hasn’t dropped. It’s got a grape and berry profile, and a lot of people like this one to help with pain issues, appetite problems, insomnia, and even stress too. It’s great for euphoria, sedation, even relaxation and appetite boosting.

Purple Haze

This is one of the few strains that’s sativa and is purple. This is one that Jimi Hendrix did popularize based on the song. Ty’s got a sweet and earthy texture, and atom definitely sells like spices and berries. This is also good for those who want the creativity boost, and more energy, for it’s a natural sativa that packs a punch.

Obama Kush

Yes, there’s a strain named after Obama, the former president, and it’s one that’s definitely high quality. It won’t be as purple as the rest of them that are here, but it’s got a decent color, and it’s one that the purple community loves because of the potency. It’s a cross between what’s called OG Kush and Afghani, and it’s responsible for a euphoric and intense sort of rush that you’ll definitely want to enjoy.

Sour Grape

This is one that’s got a very grape aroma to it, and it’s very indica dominant, while still being a hybrid. It’s a mix of GDP and Sour Diesel, and some sourness added to this. It’s pure, potent, and very, very purple.  This is something that’s got the uncanny ability to make you feel both energetic, but also super calm. It’s relaxing, which is good for relieving stress, and it relieves the tension of the muscles too.

These are all unique plants, and the cool thing about this, is that there aren't any major changes to this. Some believe that you have too much nitrogen if the weed starts to turn purple, and some believe that it impacts the yield of the plants. But it’s found that it’s actually not due to that.

It’s also not because of water.  If you do water it wrong, or too little, they suppose it becomes purple. But that’s not the case.  That won’t create the purple buds, so you don’t have to worry.

And there you have it; all you need to know about purple buds.

Marijuana for PTSD

PTSD is a condition that affects many veterans, especially those who see combat.  This is something that happens to many people, and it can be hard to live life. It triggers abuse, and this definitely has created a different state of mind for many. Fortunately, marijuana could be the answer, and for many people, it is.

Cannabis and PTSD

The thing with cannabis is that it can help with all kinds of trauma that people deal with. It’s important to understand that those who aren’t directly in combat may develop PTSD, and usually, there is a condition that’s under all of this, and people get triggered through this. There is a theory that recently came up that the deficiency of the endocannabinoids within the body might be the reason for this.

For those who don’t know, endocannabinoids are various compounds that our body is able to naturally produce. This is something that’s produced in the flowers of the cannabis plant, but they’re called Phyto cannabinoids. Now, for those who don't know, endocannabinoids are really good for mood regulation, and imbalances of this may be the reason for PTSD conditions, and also anxiety, depression, fear, and also sadness too.  There are many who struggle with PTSD, and who may use cannabis to help with mood regulation.

Our body creates a fear response whenever we are in danger, and a desire to fight.  This, of course, causes various neurochemicals within the body to show up. For those with PTSD, these bouts of panic and fear can be triggering in very simple situations.  This can also be quite stressful, even after the danger is long gone.  This is something that some people with PTSD don’t have. They’re unable to fully extinguish the fear.

While there are different systems that are involved in this, anandamide is one of the key parts of this, as this is the one that’s responsible for serotonin uptake.

The serotonin imbalance that people go through is what causes depression, anxiety, nightmares, and the like.

When you supplement the body with the Phyto cannabinoids, it can help with reducing the fear response, and quell those PTSD episodes that happen.

The Best Strains for the job

The next thing to ask, is the ideal strain and the delivery methods for those that deal with PTSD.

If your PTSD symptoms involve panic attacks, low THC strains and various delivery methods that offer faster times for the action to take place including smoking, vaping, and tinctures are the best way to do this.

If you have nightmares and struggle with sleep, including insomnia, something that’s high in THC, and faster delivery might be the best one to have before you go to bed.

Usually, those patients as well also suffer from different symptoms, and also might benefit from different varieties of formulas and methods of delivery too. For instance, the low-THC ones that you inhale might be good for those who have sudden panic attacks. Those higher in THC may want to look for these when they need to catch some Zs.

If you’re taking this, always start off with the minimal, and then, figure out the right dosage. This is something that does vary, and you may need to take a few weeks to get to the ideal dosage that won’t make you feel tired, or even paranoid as well.  You can also cut back on this as the effects begin to diminish.

Cannabis is a great tool for a variety of conditions, and for those who deal with PTSD and trauma, this could be a godsend for that condition and the problems too.

Identifying Terpenes When There Isn’t a Lab Report

When you consume cannabis, there is one thing that a lot of people don’t talk about enough. Those are terpenes, the smells that cannabis gives off, and they do offer a variety of beneficial effects from this. How can you figure them out even without a lab report? We’ll discuss how that’s possible here.

What Terpenes Are

Terpenes are basically the compounds in cannabis that can smell a certain  way. It’s also found in a ton of herbs too, such as lavender, rosemary, and even jasmine and other plants. The role of terpenes is to help protect a plant. While the chemicals smell good to us, to a critter or a predator, they are bad, and it scares them off.

They also may attract certain animals to help with pollination. It’s also considered bioactive, depending on the type of concentration that’s there, it can provide some health benefits for people. They may be labeled on some products, but not on others, and here, we’ll go over how you can identify the terpenes that are on a cannabis product without actually having a label there.

How to identify

Now you may see a few companies offering labels for this, but not every company does. How does one identify this then? Well, the answer is usually through understanding the type of product, and there are a few identifying characteristics of this as well.

  • You can identify this in some cases based on the smell and some of the other factors that are there.

  • All strains have a unique terpene profile so it’s important to understand that it's all right there if you look hard enough.

  • A lot of dispensaries can usually tell you as well what is in it. they also might let you smell the terpenes that are there and that of course is what can determine the types of terpenes that are there, and the desired effects from each one

There are a few rules to terpenes in cannabis, and they are the following:

  • If it smells fruity or it has  a minty scent to it, chances are it’s going to be stimulating and even uplifting in terms of the effects.

  • If it’s musky or earthy then it’s going to be calm and sedating in terms of the effects that this can offer from some of the people that are there.

beyond the scents though, there are other ways for you to determine the terpenes that are in this.

and of course, if you feel like a scent just isn’t good in your eyes, and you don't like it, remember you don’t have to use it. a lot of times, it may not work for you either, as it cannot make a pleasant experience possible for you as well too.

In general, if you’re trying to get one that’s more stimulating, obviously, you want a flavor that’s more minty and fruity in a lot of cases.

There are also menthol scents such as those in eucalyptus that you can try too. A lot of people like that for the sole reason that it can taste and smell really good. It also offers a soothing balm feeling that a ton of people love to have, and a lot of times, it can be a good feeling for you.

A lot of times, you can get the answers to this right away from asking the budtender what they think, but if you’re still in doubt, use this rule of thumb when deciding the terpenes in this too.
